Akamas Municipality Hosts 820 Civil Weddings in 2024, Generating €440,000 in Revenue

Polish and Israeli couples show continued interest in Akamas for civil weddings, with demand expected to rise through 2027.

A total of 820 civil weddings were conducted in Akamas Municipality during 2024, bringing €440,000 in revenue to municipal coffers, according to Maria Yiangou, the official responsible for civil wedding ceremonies.

Yiangou noted that 2025 is expected to remain at similar levels, while an increase is anticipated for 2026, with growth continuing into 2027. Pre-bookings for 2028 are also set to begin soon, she added.

Yiangou emphasized the growing interest from the Polish market for hosting civil weddings on the island, adding that interest from Israeli couples also remains strong.

As for wedding venues within the municipality, Yiangou mentioned a variety of locations including hotel resorts, the beach of Agios Georgios in Peyia, the Shipwreck area, Palaiomonastiro, and the spring of the Peygiotisses. She also noted that civil weddings are held in private villas throughout the region.
