Celebrating Young Innovators at Ge Neo Epihirin 2024

Recognizing The Impact Of Youth Entrepreneurship On Cyprus's Economic Growth And Social Progress

The seventh annual awards ceremony for youth entrepreneurship “Ge Neo Epihirin" was successfully held yesterday, Wednesday, October 9, 2024, organized by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and the magazine "Thessaloniki Events." The awards are supported by the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, Hellenic Bank, the company Coneq, and the Cyprus Cartoonists Association.

The awards have become an annual institution that encourages and recognizes youth entrepreneurship. The award recipients serve as role models for young people and are worthy ambassadors of entrepreneurship for our country.

In her address at the event, Ms. Savia Orphanidou, representing the President of the House of Representatives, emphasized the crucial role that youth entrepreneurship plays in the development and economic progress of our country. She specifically highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit of the Cypriot youth and their achievements, which are a source of pride for Cyprus.

In his greeting, the President of CCCI stressed that the future belongs to the younger generation, and it is our duty to prepare them and provide all the necessary tools for their progress, enabling them to bring about the changes required by modern times and actively contribute to the prosperity of the country and its people. Entrepreneurship undoubtedly contributes to this direction, which is why we must all encourage and support it. Through the fresh ideas of creativity and the energy of youth, we see the future of our economy unfolding with hope and dynamism.

Mr. Stavrou mentioned that the Chamber, through many of its initiatives, promotes youth entrepreneurship and encourages our young scientists to enter the field of business.

The benefits of engaging in entrepreneurship are numerous for everyone, as it creates economic growth, achieves new accomplishments, promotes innovation and the development of new ideas, and enhances employment and social welfare. To promote entrepreneurship, CCCI emphasizes the need for the provision of incentives (tax and others) to encourage entrepreneurship, the promotion of digital media, the reduction of bureaucracy, the improvement of the regulatory framework, and the facilitation of the establishment and operation of businesses, as well as the introduction of entrepreneurship into education.

The connection between education and the market and economy is another major need that we must implement. Without the connection between the two sectors, we are not adequately preparing our youth, especially those interested in starting their own businesses.
