Court Reverses Decision, EAC to Award 400,000 Smart Meters to CYTA
EAC to Re-Award Contract to CYTA, Ensuring €35 Million from Recovery Fund
Yesterday, the court issued a decision regarding the appeal filed by the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC). The ruling effectively overturns the previous Administrative Court decision, which had canceled the award of the contract for 400,000 smart meters to CYTA.
As a result, EAC is expected to re-award the contract to CYTA within the next week. This move is crucial to meeting the deadlines and securing the €35 million from the Recovery and Resilience Fund.
According to the binding timelines set by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, following the cancellation of the earlier tender, the contract should have been signed by the end of March 2024. Additionally, 50,000 meters must be received and 15,000 installed by September 2024. The full delivery of 400,000 meters and the installation of 250,000 meters must be completed by June 2026.
