Tourism revenues in July 2024 reached a record high, amounting to €474.0 million and surpassing the previous all-time high of €454.6 million set in July 2023.

According to the Traveler Survey results released by the Statistical Service on Monday, tourism revenues in July 2024 saw a 4.3% increase compared to the same month in 2023. Revenue for the January–July period also reached new record levels.

Specifically, for the period from January to July 2024, tourism revenues were estimated at €1,610.4 million, compared to €1,544.7 million in the corresponding period of 2023, marking a 4.3% rise.

Expenditure Analysis

According to the Statistical Service, the per capita expenditure of tourists in July 2024 stood at €859.95, compared to €867.96 in July 2023, reflecting a 0.9% decrease.

British tourists (the largest market, accounting for 33.9% of all tourists in July 2024) spent an average of €95.02 per day, while Israeli tourists (the second-largest market with 12.9% of the total) spent an average of €140.24.

Tourists from Poland (the third-largest market with 6.4%) spent €86.02 per day.

Industrial Output Prices Index in Industry Falls by 0.4% in August

The Industrial Output Prices Index in Industry fell by 0.4% in August 2024 compared to August 2023, leading to a 2.2% decrease in producer prices for the first eight months of this year compared to the same period in 2023.

According to the Statistical Service, the Industrial Output Prices Index for August 2024 reached 124.1 points (base year 2021=100), showing a slight decline of 0.1% compared to July 2024.

In August 2024, compared to July 2024, the index remained stable in the sectors of mining and quarrying, as well as manufacturing, while there was a 0.1% increase in the electricity supply sector. The water supply and material recovery sector, however, saw a decrease of 2.2%.

Regarding changes compared to August 2023, the Statistical Service reported that the manufacturing sector remained steady, while there was an increase in the mining and quarrying sector (1.0%) and decreases in the electricity supply sector (-1.8%) and the water supply and material recovery sector (-1.4%).

By manufacturing subsector, in August 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, increases were recorded in the manufacture of electronic and optical products and electrical equipment (6.3%), the manufacture of furniture, other manufacturing activities, and the repair and installation of machinery and equipment (3.6%), the production of textiles, clothing, and leather goods (1.4%), and the food and beverage industry (0.4%).

On the other hand, the Statistical Service noted a decline in the production of basic metals and the manufacture of metal products (-3.5%), the manufacture of paper, paper products, and printing (-2.9%), and the manufacture of rubber and plastic products (-0.6%).
