Cyprus Airports Set Record with Over 12 Million Passengers in 2024
Increased Connectivity, New Routes, and Strong Demand Drive Growth
A new record in passenger traffic will be set at Larnaca and Paphos airports this year, exceeding 12 million passengers by the end of 2024, according to Maria Kouroupi, Director of Aviation Development and Communications at Hermes Airports.
Kouroupi emphasized that passenger traffic levels in recent months reflect the strong demand for air travel and Cyprus's growing appeal as a destination. “The impressive results and this new record confirm Hermes Airports' successful strategy for improving connectivity and expanding our diverse flight network,” she stated.
According to Hermes Airports data:

In November 2024, 715,231 passengers passed through Larnaca and Paphos airports, a 7% increase compared to November 2023.

From January to November 2024, total passenger traffic reached 11.6 million, marking a 5% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

By the end of 2024, the total number of passengers is expected to reach 12.2 million, reflecting a 5% annual increase.
Hermes Airports has introduced new winter routes and destinations, enhancing Cyprus's connectivity during the off-season.
For Larnaca Airport:

New destinations include Kuwait (Jazeera Airways) and Chișinău (Fly One).

Expanded routes feature flights to Cairo and Milan (Wizz Air), Gatwick (British Airways), Amsterdam (EasyJet), Warsaw (LOT), and Copenhagen (SAS).
For Paphos Airport:

Ryanair has added new flights to Amman, Liverpool, and Birmingham.
Maria Kouroupi highlighted the significant strides made since Hermes Airports assumed management of Larnaca and Paphos airports. “We have achieved substantial growth in Cyprus's connectivity, recognizing its crucial role in the development of the Cypriot tourism industry,” she noted.
Looking ahead, Kouroupi stressed the importance of maintaining this positive momentum in 2025. The primary objective remains extending the tourism season, which will require a strategic approach to developing new products that meet modern travelers' needs and fostering collaboration among tourism stakeholders.
