Passenger Traffic Rises Despite Geopolitical Challenges, Driven by Key Markets Like the UK, Greece, and Poland
Larnaca and Paphos airports welcomed 1,407,675 passengers during September 2024, marking a 7.06% increase compared to 2023, according to a statement from the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Works on Tuesday.
Despite the challenges posed by escalating geopolitical tensions, passenger traffic from January to September continued to show a historic increase, with a rise of 5.01% compared to the same period in 2023.
The statement highlights that passenger volume at Larnaca Airport increased by 10.18%, while Paphos Airport remained at the same level as in 2023.
"With key markets being the United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, Israel, and Germany, aircraft movements increased by 10% compared to 2023, reaching a total of 10,253 flights," the announcement concluded.
