Cyprus Banking Sector Profitability Falls by €237 Million

Central Bank data point to lower net interest income as the main cause.

Profitability in the Cyprus banking sector has declined over the past year, according to updated consolidated data published by the Central Bank of Cyprus, with a reference date of 30 September.

Bank profitability decreased by €237 million, falling from €953 million in September 2024 to €716 million in the same month this year.

This decline is mainly attributed to a reduction in net interest income.

Total assets of the banking sector increased in the third quarter of 2025, rising from €66.97 billion in June to €67.8 billion in September this year.

This increase is mainly due to a rise in loans and advances.
