Cyprus Flood Festival Weekend: How Full Were the Country’s Leisure Centers?
Youth and Seaside Venues Drive High Visitor Numbers, Says OSIKA President
Nationwide attendance at leisure centers in Cyprus ranged between 80% and 90% during the long weekend of the Flood Festival (Kataklysmos), according to Phytos Thrasyvoulou, President of the Cyprus Federation of Leisure Center Owners (OSIKA).
Mr. Thrasyvoulou noted that this year’s Kataklysmos weekend was one of the most successful in recent years in terms of visitor turnout at leisure establishments.
He reported high occupancy levels and expressed hope that this momentum would continue into the upcoming tourist season. According to Mr. Thrasyvoulou, the current tourist season is comparable to last year's and is expected to reach satisfactory levels. He stressed that sustained visitor numbers are essential for the survival of businesses in the food and beverage sector.
He also emphasized the need for ongoing efforts to extend the tourist season, which is critical for the recovery and long-term viability of the tourism industry.
When asked, Mr. Thrasyvoulou pointed out that in recent years, leisure venues attracting the most footfall are those popular among younger crowds, rather than older age groups.
He added that venues offering sea views also continue to see strong demand.
