Cyprus-Greece-Israel Electrical Cable Project: Key Meeting Today

Critical Discussions to Bridge Differences on €1.9 Billion Power Link

Today's videoconference will be a critical moment for the stakeholders to demonstrate the progress on outstanding issues and whether the differences between the Cypriot and Greek sides can be resolved. With deadlines looming, the commitments of ADMIE for the Crete-Cyprus-Israel electrical cable project, totaling €1.9 billion, are under intense scrutiny.

Following the postponement of last Thursday's scheduled meeting, which was rescheduled at the initiative of Brussels, today's meeting will bring together the European Commission, ADMIE, and the regulatory authorities of Greece and Cyprus (RAAEY and CERA).

Unlike the previous meeting held ten days ago, which ended without resolution, today's discussions will benefit from prior discussions at a high political level regarding the electrical interconnection project.

Currently, there is no information on the stance that the Cypriot side will take. However, according to Greek media, there have been discussions in the last 24 hours between President Nicos Christodoulides and the Greek Prime Minister, who was in Cyprus last Saturday to mark the 50th anniversary of the coup and the invasion.
