Renewal Process for Self-Catering Accommodation Licenses Announced

The Ministry of Tourism has announced the start of the renewal process for self-catering accommodation licenses, which is conducted exclusively through its online platform.

According to the Ministry’s announcement, under the relevant legislation, the renewal application must be submitted within three months before the expiration of the current registration license. The renewed license will be valid for five years. The fee for the initial registration and the renewal of the registration license is €222.

The Ministry also stated that late applications for renewal will not be accepted. In such cases, the applicant must submit a new application for a registration license, accompanied by all relevant documents, as required for the initial registration. This new license will only be valid for three years.

Referring to the "Regulation of the Establishment and Operation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodations Law," the Ministry of Tourism mentioned that "the entrepreneur/manager of each self-catering accommodation can advertise and/or rent the accommodation, provided it is registered in the Register of Self-Catering Accommodations and has received a registration license and a registration number from the Ministry, which must be included in the advertisement and/or promotion of the accommodation, as well as in all related transactions."

Additionally, the Ministry of Tourism stated that according to the provisions of the relevant legislation, anyone who maintains or operates a self-catering accommodation without a registration license or whose registration license has been revoked is guilty of an offense and, upon conviction, is subject to a prison sentence of up to one year or a fine of up to €5,000, or both.

"If the violation continues after the conviction, the offender is guilty of a further offense and is subject to an additional fine of up to €200 for each day the violation continues," the statement concluded.
