DP World Limassol Expects Surge in Cruise Ship Traffic

The Busiest Months for Cruise Ship Traffic in Limassol Are Expected to Be October and November

DP World Limassol anticipates the arrival of approximately 200 cruise ships carrying over 300,000 passengers this year. The company made the announcement as part of its World Tourism Day celebrations. Collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism, DP World organized a special event last week for passengers at the Limassol port terminal. The event aimed to promote sustainable practices within the maritime sector.

On September 22nd, passengers arriving on the MSC Musica and Norwegian Jade cruise ships were treated to a special showcase. Renowned Cypriot artist Ifigenia Papageorgiou presented her art, crafted from recyclable materials. Additionally, guests were serenaded with live traditional music.

This year's World Tourism Day theme, "Tourism and Green Investments," emphasizes the need for increased and targeted investments in human capacity (education and skills), the planet (infrastructure and accelerating green transformation), and prosperity (innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship).

Notably, the busiest months for cruise ship traffic in Limassol are expected to be October and November.

Following the event, Simon Pitout, the Managing Director of DP World Limassol, stressed the company's commitment to sustainability. He said, "This unique event highlights our dedication to responsible operational practices while simultaneously showcasing Cyprus's rich cultural heritage."
