Drilling at 'Pegasus One' to Begin on May 1
Chevron plans seabed survey for pipeline route to Egypt, while optimism builds over the commercial potential of the new gas target.
Drilling at the natural gas target Pegasus One is scheduled to begin on May 1 and is expected to be completed by the end of May or early June, according to Energy Minister George Papanastasiou.
Papanastasiou also expressed hope that the results from Pegasus One will be more promising than those from the previous Electra One drilling.
He further noted that Chevron has informed the government that, at the beginning of summer, it will conduct a seabed survey between the Aphrodite gas field and the landfall point in Egypt. The purpose of the survey is to select the route for the pipeline that will transport natural gas.
The Energy Minister added that the companies responsible for the project have already requested bids from subcontractors. These bids will help move forward with the assessment process for commercializing the gas reservoir.
