Finalization of Paphos Marina Bidding Process Anticipated by Late 2024
Three Financial Entities Have Submitted Offers
Toward the end of 2024, the bidding process for the Paphos marina is expected to be completed, as stated by George Mais, President of the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Mais announced that the bids for the firm to prepare the tender documents for the Paphos marina have been submitted. He added that, barring any objections by the end of April, the evaluation and awarding of the bid will proceed, followed by intensive preparations for the tender documents.
Mais mentioned that the completions of the bidding processes are anticipated by the end of 2024, at which point the successful investor will be known. He emphasized the marina's significance, particularly for Paphos' tourism, as it will enrich the tourist product and bolster nautical tourism, enhancing experiences while supporting other marinas in Cyprus. He further added that a destination must have a network of marinas for sea visitors.
In discussions with President Nicos Christodoulides, Mais was assured that the processes would proceed swiftly and without delay, barring unforeseen circumstances such as appeals. The President confirmed that the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the Government would do everything possible to expedite the marina's construction, aligning with the state's tourism strategy.
According to the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, three financial entities have submitted bids for the consulting services tender for the Paphos marina project in the Potima area of Kissonerga. Following a decision by the Council of Ministers, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism initiated an open tender on October 4, 2023, to secure expert services. This includes preparing the terms of the tender and providing advisory support to the Ministry throughout the competitive process to find an investor for the marina project.
It is noted that the deadline for submitting bids was December 18, 2023, with three financial entities having submitted offers through the e-procurement system. An evaluation team has been appointed to assess the bids, and the selected experts will be responsible for preparing the tender documents, aiming to find a strategic investor for the project's development.
