A decision regarding the Cyprus-Greece electrical interconnection through the Great Sea Interconnector project was reached by the Cabinet on Tuesday.

However, the decision was not announced immediately following the session. It was later revealed that Energy, Commerce, and Industry Minister Giorgos Papanastasiou will make a statement at the Presidential Palace at 18:00.

Negotiations between the involved parties in Cyprus and Greece have been intensive over the past week, following a meeting held in Nicosia last Tuesday, chaired by President Nikos Christodoulides.

Last Thursday, the President stated that progress had been made in the discussions. The project is also expected to be a topic of discussion during the President’s upcoming meeting with the Greek Prime Minister on Thursday.
