Industrial Production Index Rises by 6.1% in June
Significant Growth Observed in Electricity Supply, With Manufacturing Also Seeing Positive Trends
In June, the Industrial Production Index increased by 6.1% year-on-year, with the highest percentage rise recorded in the electricity supply sector.
According to data from the Statistical Service, the index reached 117.3 points in June, based on the 2021 baseline.
During the period from January to June 2024, the index showed a 5.5% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
In the manufacturing sector, there was a 2.1% increase compared to June 2023, while growth was also recorded in the electricity supply sector with a 33.7% rise, in mining and quarrying with 3.3%, and in water supply and material recovery with 2.9%.
Within the manufacturing sector, the most significant positive changes compared to June 2023 were observed in the production of electronic and optical products and electrical equipment, which rose by 15.2%, the manufacturing of machinery and equipment, motor vehicles, and other transport equipment, which increased by 14.2%, and in the production of furniture and the repair/installation of machinery and equipment, which saw a 13.1% rise.
However, according to the Statistical Service, the only negative changes were observed in the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products, which decreased by 11.9%, the production of textiles, clothing, and leather goods, which dropped by 8.6%, the manufacturing of paper and paper products and printing, which fell by 3.3%, and the production of rubber and plastic products, which also declined by 3.3%.
