Larnaca, Paphos Airports See 7% Rise in Passengers
Record Year Predicted for 2024, Says Ministry of Transport.
Passenger traffic at Larnaca and Paphos airports increased by 7.14% in October 2024 compared to October 2023, according to the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Works, which has revised its passenger traffic forecasts upward for 2024, anticipating a new all-time high.
Specifically, Larnaca and Paphos airports welcomed a total of 1,338,065 passengers, the Ministry noted in a statement. It added that 2024 is expected to set a new record for both airports, exceeding 12 million passengers.
“Despite the challenges posed by escalating geopolitical tensions, passenger traffic for the January-October period shows the highest levels ever recorded, with an increase of 5.3% compared to the same period in 2023,” it emphasized.
It also highlighted that in October, passenger traffic at Larnaca and Paphos airports surpassed last year’s figures by 8.8% and 3.2%, respectively.
The Ministry stated that passenger volume at Larnaca Airport approached 1 million passengers (957,625), while Paphos Airport recorded 380,440 passengers, marking the highest October traffic ever.
With key markets being the United Kingdom, Greece, Israel, Poland, and Germany, aircraft movements increased by 10.54% compared to 2023, reaching 10,390 flights.
