May Visitor Rates at Recreation Centers Reach 75%

Mr. Thrasivoulou Emphasized the Need for Greater Efforts to Increase Flight Numbers and Attract More Tourists

Visitor rates at recreation centers reached 75% in May, according to Neophytos Thrasivoulou, President of the Federation of Recreation Center Owners - OSIKA. Mr. Thrasivoulou noted that the past two months saw an increase in local activity due to elections, with many Cypriots gathering and hosting events at these venues.

However, Mr. Thrasivoulou expressed dissatisfaction with these results, citing ongoing uncertainty about the number of tourist arrivals, which significantly impact recreation centers. He emphasized the need for greater efforts to increase flight numbers and attract more tourists.

Mr. Thrasivoulou urged Cypriots to stay in Cyprus during the summer to support the economy. He also encouraged business owners to offer competitive prices to rival other destinations.

Meanwhile, bookings at coastal and mountain hotels saw a significant increase during the election weekend, according to Philokypros Rousounides, General Manager of the Cyprus Hotel Association - PASYXE. Mr. Rousounides noted that it is estimated most people returned to exercise their right to vote.
