The University of Nicosia is poised to become the first private higher education institution to establish a presence in Hellinikon Metropolitan Park, Greece’s flagship urban redevelopment project. The university is finalizing the acquisition of plots within the park from Lamda Development, adding to a previously acquired property outside the park’s boundaries, Capital reports.

The planned campus will span a total built area of 50,000 square meters and will house state-of-the-art academic facilities, including a medical school, a nursing school, and potentially a law school currently under consideration. Complementing these academic facilities will be luxurious student housing covering an additional 25,000 square meters.

The University of Nicosia has partnered with CVC Capital Partners to bolster its health sciences division. However, this collaboration does not extend to the real estate investments within Hellinikon, where the university retains control.

Outside the park, the university and CVC Capital Partners jointly acquired an 8,000-square-meter property by purchasing Vanes Limited. Located near Vouliagmeni Avenue, the site includes the former Olympic Airways facilities, set to be redeveloped into educational infrastructure by 2027, with construction beginning in 2025.

Student residences will be built on adjacent land near the main campus, with their completion scheduled for a later phase.
