Visitor Numbers at Leisure Centers Hit 90% in August
OSIKA President Neophytos Thrasyvoulou Reports Record Highs.
In August, visitor numbers at leisure centers reached 90%, according to Neophytos Thrasyvoulou, President of the Federation of Owners of Leisure Centers (OSIKA).
In his statements, Mr. Thrasyvoulou mentioned that August was a good month, although there were areas, such as Polis Chrysochous, where visitor numbers during weekdays were below expectations. However, the overall attendance at leisure centers was satisfactory in August, mainly due to local visitors.
He also referred to the increase in flights during September and October, noting that this will provide a "boost" to visitor numbers at restaurants and leisure centers in general.
Mr. Thrasyvoulou expressed hope that this increased visitor flow would continue until November 15, the date when many leisure centers close for the winter season.
Additionally, he emphasized the need to extend the tourism season, as this would bring multiple benefits to the tourism industry.
Regarding September, the OSIKA President highlighted that business owners in the food and hospitality industry are currently satisfied with the situation.
Aside from local and British visitors, he noted that Cyprus's leisure centers also welcomed tourists from other markets, such as France and Poland.
He pointed out that the Federation is in continuous contact with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, and efforts are being made to boost tourism despite the regional challenges and the influx of tourists to the occupied areas.
He also announced that intensive talks will begin in October with the relevant ministries to provide assistance to business owners.
