Government Prioritizes Air Connectivity as Cyprus Airways Expands Fleet and Global Flight Network

Air Connectivity a Top Priority, Deputy Minister Says at Meeting With Cyprus Airways

Deputy Minister Costas Koumis highlights air connectivity as a top government priority during a strategic meeting with Cyprus Airways, which plans fleet expansions and new international airline partnerships.

Strengthening Communication Channels

Air connectivity is a top priority for the Government, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Costas Koumis said during a meeting he held on Friday with senior executives of air company Cyprus Airways, in the presence of officials of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, as part of his regular contacts with the main partners of the aviation sector.

According to a Deputy Ministry press release, Koumis reiterated the willingness of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism to maintain an open channel of communication with the airlines, underlining that air connectivity is a top priority for the Government's tourism policy. There is always, the Deputy Minister said, the willingness to cooperate in order to achieve even better results for the benefit of the country.

Expanding Strategic Alliances

The company's management informed the Deputy Minister about its intention to add routes to its flight schedule, strengthening the country's connectivity with important tourist markets.

Moreover, it said it has contacts aiming at collaborations with foreign airlines in order to create new connectivity opportunities with a wide international network of destinations, offering greater flexibility and more choices to travelers.

Fleet Expansion for Future Growth

The Deputy Minister was also informed about the company's intention to strengthen its fleet with two additional aircraft, increasing the total number to eight. In the future, it is expected to acquire two additional aircraft, as part of efforts to further develop its network.
