Inflation Reached 0.1% in February
An Almost Negligible Increase Recorded.
Inflation in Cyprus remained at exceptionally low levels in February 2026, with the annual rate standing at 0.1%, according to data published by the Statistical Service on Thursday.
Specifically, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) (base 2025=100) decreased by 0.12 points in February, reaching 99.86 points from 99.98 points in January 2026. On an annual basis (February 2026 / February 2025), a marginal increase of just 0.06% was recorded.
In annual comparison with February 2025, positive changes were mainly recorded in restaurants and accommodation services with an increase of 4.7%, educational services with 3.7%, recreation, sports, and culture with 2.4%, as well as agricultural products with an increase of 4.2%. On the other hand, significant price decreases were observed in clothing and footwear by 6.8%, transport by 3.7%, electricity and water by 9.3%, and petroleum products by 7.4%.
The largest positive contribution to the annual Consumer Price Index came from food services, which added 2.82 points, followed by recreation services with 2.79 points and rents with 1.42 points. Conversely, the largest negative impact came from gasoline with a reduction of 2.28 points, mobile communication services with 1.50 points, and insurance with 1.13 points.
On a monthly basis, meaning compared with January 2026, the Consumer Price Index fell by 0.12%. The largest downward pressures came from vegetables with a reduction of 0.19 points, electricity with 0.10 points, and overall food and non-alcoholic beverages with 0.08 points. By contrast, clothing items added a slight upward push of 0.06 points and rents by 0.05 points.
