1st Country Roundtable for the BuildEnrichedSkills Methodology for construction professionals - Cyprus
On the 29th of October 2024, the 1st Country Roundtable for the BuildEnrichedSkills Methodology was held, as part the European project « Academy for Transitional Skills in the Built Environment », funded by the Erasmus+ programme. The discussion event was held at the "OIKODOMOS" Vocational Education Center gathering a significant group of participants including construction professionals, civil servants and representatives of educational centres and other stakeholders.
The " Academy for Transitional Skills in the Built Environment " project is set to revolutionize the construction sector by addressing the challenges posed by the green and digital transition. From Cyprus, 3 different organisations are participating in the project, which with their knowledge and experience will contribute positively to the successful completion of the project: the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), the Cyprus Certification Company (CCC) and the KYKLOIKODROMIO.
The primary objectives of the " Academy for Transitional Skills in the Built Environment " project include identifying essential skills, integrating transitional skills into existing VET courses, and establishing Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) with quality assurance mechanisms. The project aims to bridge certification gaps between EU Member States. The "BuildSkills Academy" project main activities include designing the BuildEnrichedSkills methodology, creating a certification framework, and implementing vocational excellence measures, such as pilot testing VET courses and conducting master classes.
The purpose of the roundtable discussion was the verification of the strategic fit of the BuildEnrichedSkills Methodology. During the roundtable participants were introduced to the BuildEnrichedSkills methodology and gave their insights regarding the adequacy and relevance of the BuildEnichedSkills methodology to the policy context for VET provision in Europe and the particular market needs of the industry. Participants were asked to assess how the methodology aligns with current and emergent VET policies at the EU level, discuss potential challenges and barriers in implementing the methodology and its future prospects and scalability.
Findings from the roundtables will be produced and compiled in one document assessing the strategic fit of the methodology according to its relevance and adequacy.
The project Academy for Transitional Skills in the Built Environment is co-funded by the European Union, ERASMUS+ Programme under Grant Agreement number: 101104419.
