4 Cypriot Universities Rank Among the World’s Best
The THE World University Rankings evaluate institutions across five main pillars.
Cyprus’s higher education sector continues its positive momentum, with four universities — two public and two private — included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026. The University of Cyprus, the Cyprus University of Technology, the University of Nicosia, and the European University Cyprus all secured positions among the world’s top academic institutions.
According to the newly released rankings, the University of Cyprus remains the country’s top-ranked institution, placing in the 401–500 range globally out of 2,191 universities evaluated. This marks another year of strong international performance for UCY, which has been consistently featured in the prestigious ranking since 2016.
The Cyprus University of Technology and the University of Nicosia followed closely, both positioned in the 501–600 range worldwide.
Meanwhile, the European University Cyprus joined the list in the 801–1000 bracket, underscoring the expanding footprint of private higher education in Cyprus.
