For the third consecutive year, the booth of the biobank.cy Center of Excellence at the University of Cyprus was voted by the public as the best booth at the Researchers’ Night, held on Friday, September 26, at the Cyprus State Fair grounds in Nicosia.

“MISSION POSSIBLE – The Sequel!”, organized by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), is the leading institution for promoting research, innovation, and science. On a day full of knowledge, creativity, and inspiration, visitors had the opportunity to explore the world of science and engage in conversations with researchers, scientists, academics, and innovative entrepreneurs.

In the specially designed booth area, the biobank.cy team presented the microcosm of the cell, focusing on the mitochondrion, an organelle of vital importance for the cell, with multiple roles. Children and adults transformed into “Mito Rangers,” superheroes protecting cells from threats such as cancer and mutations, and took part in interactive missions of a floor game, learning about mitochondria, mtDNA, and the importance of genetic research. Each Ranger had a “scientific power” with the common goal of healthy cellular function. The aim was to familiarize the public with science in a way that is understandable, entertaining, and meaningful.

The booth attracted hundreds of visitors of all ages with its impressive presentation and innovative approach, reinforcing the commitment of the biobank.cy Center of Excellence to promoting scientific culture and encouraging citizens’ active participation in research.
