Harris Kyriakides Foundation Supports Cypriot students at the University of Oxford.

The Harris Kyriakides Foundation and the University of Oxford have signed a landmark agreement for the funding of scholarships to law students from Cyprus over a 5-year period.

Founded in 2024, in memory of our late founder Mr Harris Kyriakides, the Harris Kyriakides Foundation aims to carry on his vision and is committed to help the next generation of talented young lawyers develop their skills so they can make the most of their career opportunities.

The scholarship programme is scheduled to run from 2023 to 2027, with the Harris Kyriakides Foundation awarding a £10,000 scholarship annually. Eligible candidates for the scholarship include both Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot nationals undertaking their studies in either the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) or the Magister Juris (MJur) programmes who have selected Principles of Civil Procedure as one of their elective modules.

For the academic year 2023-2024, the scholarship has been awarded to Cleopatra Khattab, a student in the BCL program at the University of Oxford.

Cleopatra Khattab, shared the following about the scholarship:

"I feel great honour and pleasure to have been selected for the scholarship. It means a lot to me and is a significant financial assistance in fulfilling my dream. With the support of the Harris Kyriakides Foundation through this scholarship, my postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford will help me to grow academically and personally as an individual."

Nicolas Kyriakides, from the Foundation’s committee said:

With this and other initiatives we aspire to encourage, through our founder’s legacy, top legal talent, academic excellence as well as advance our country’s legal tradition domestically and internationally.

Professor John Armour, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Oxford University, said:

“The Faculty of Law is dedicated to breaking down barriers to graduate study. Due to the generosity of the Harris Kyriakides Foundation, exceptional students from Cyprus will be supported to undertake the MJur at Oxford. I am delighted that we can work together with Harris Kyriakides to empower the next generation of legal minds to flourish at Oxford.”
