Innovative Educational Program 'My Hospitality' Integrated into Cyprus's Primary Education

Initiative Aims to Foster Hospitality Skills and Business Development Among Students

The Cyprus Hotel Association (CHA) agreed to integrate the innovative educational program "My Hospitality" into all classes of Primary Education. This decision was made during a meeting with the Minister of Education, Sports, and Youth, Athina Michaelidou, and the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis.

"My Hospitality" aims to acquaint students with the concepts of hospitality, acceptance of diversity, business development, and an introduction to the sector's professions. This innovative program, designed by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels in collaboration with HOTREC, is already being successfully implemented in Greek Primary Schools.

The Minister of Education, Sports, and Youth expressed her Ministry's readiness to utilize this program and begin the implementation process soon.

CHA President Thanos Michaelidis, after thanking the Minister of Education and the Deputy Minister of Tourism for their keen interest in integrating "My Hospitality" into our country's education system, noted: "The implementation of this innovative program in education will strengthen efforts for sustainable tourism development, significantly expand the horizons and opportunities of the new generation, and contribute to understanding and assimilating the concept of hospitality."

The Deputy Minister of Tourism emphasized the need to utilize the Program in Middle and High School classes, noting that the Ministry of Education and the Deputy Ministry of Tourism will jointly contact the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and the Greek Ministry of Tourism for the exchange of best practices in this direction. Additionally, Mr. Koumis recommended to the Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth to launch Post-Secondary Vocational Education and Training Institute programs in English.

CHA is in continuous open communication with its Greek counterpart, the Greek Chamber, both for the implementation of "My Hospitality" and for further realization of joint actions aimed at developing the tourism product.
