Lumio Private School Rolls out Google Chromebooks
Lumio Private School, a new not-for-profit international school, is the first educational institution in Cyprus to adopt Google Chromebooks across its classrooms, establishing a new standard for digital learning in the region.
The initiative is powered by the Cyprus-based Google Cloud Partner, Gear Education. As the country’s first Google for Education partner with education expertise, Gear Education is authorised to provide Google Workspace for Education, ChromeOS and professional development services to educational institutions.
A strategic effort was essential to ensuring the region was Chromebook-ready. In close collaboration with the Google for Education team, Gear Education was instrumental in crafting a strategy that ensured all elements were aligned to optimise the local market for Chromebook deployment and support. This included partnering with companies like Lenovo, the world's leading PC manufacturer, to offer the best-selling device in K12 education worldwide with the additional benefit of localised language keyboards.
In a significant step, Lumio Private School leveraged Gear Education's expertise to establish itself as Cyprus' first official Google Chromebook school, setting the foundation for a secure, scalable, and future-ready classroom model.

Back in 2022, Gear Education facilitated Cyprus' first school upgrade to a premium Google for Education edition, providing advanced security, insightful analytics, and easy-to-use tools that enrich and personalise learning—a crucial milestone paving the way for broader adoption. Now, in 2025, Gear Education facilitated Lumio's deployment of Chromebooks, partnering with Lenovo to extend learning beyond the traditional classroom.

Delivered classroom-ready, Lumio Chromebooks utilised Google’s Zero-Touch Enrolment, a service offered through pre-provisioning partners like Lenovo. This eliminates the need for manual enrolment by automatically registering the ChromeOS devices into Lumio's organisation once powered on and connected to the internet.
To further support a smooth and effective rollout, Lumio’s Chromebook fleet includes the Chrome Education Upgrade to enable centralised administration, robust security, and a tailored Chromebook experience for educators and students.

Demonstrating their commitment to technology integration, Lumio has also established an I.T. Champions Team, bringing together teaching and administrative staff to collaborate with Gear Education in advancing digital learning across the school. Lumio is currently exploring advanced Google for Education capabilities, including Class Tools for real-time classroom management and Gemini for transforming education through AI. The school sees this as the next crucial step in building a modern, connected learning experience.
