On Tuesday, September 17, Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Pruntzos signed the contracts for the renovation of a residential property to create a center for children with disabilities, with Athanodoros Ioannis, CEO of AKI CONSTRUCTIONS LTD.

According to the Municipality's announcement, the project involves renovating a 180m² ground-floor residence with a surrounding yard in a central residential area of Agios Dometios, near the traditional core and between Gr. Afxentiou and Agios Pavlos avenues. The residence was built in the 1950s and was donated to the Municipality of Agios Dometios by its owners to be used for upgrading its social programs. The residence has remained unoccupied for the past 10 years, the announcement states.

It is further noted that with the proposed renovation, the residence will be upgraded both functionally and energetically, and appropriate facilities will be created to accommodate children aged 4 to 12. The outdoor area will be landscaped and a playground with equipment suitable for these children will be installed.

The renovation design was carried out by the firm IOAKEIM & LOIZA - Architects Engineers LTD.

The project is being implemented under the "THALEIA 2021-2027" Cohesion Policy Program with co-financing from the EU, the announcement says.
