UCLan Cyprus and the Cyprus Shipping Deputy Ministry Strengthen Their Partnership to Advance Maritime Education and Research

UCLan Cyprus and the Cyprus Shipping Deputy Ministry renewed their commitment to advancing maritime education, research, and technology by signing a second Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday, January 26, 2024, at the UCLan Cyprus Campus.

On behalf of UCLan Cyprus, the MoU was signed by Mr Floros Voniatis, the CEO & Chair of the Council, and on behalf of the Cyprus Shipping Deputy Ministry, by Her Excellency Mrs Marina Hatjimanoli, the Shipping Deputy Minister.

With the objective of promoting and enhancing the quality of scientific knowledge and technology, as well as fostering a research culture among UCLan Cyprus students, alumni, young professionals and other stakeholders, this MoU seeks to advance further the fields of Technology, Science, Research, and Education related to shipping and integrated maritime policy.

According to this agreement, both parties commit to the organisation and promotion of joint programmes and research initiatives, encompassing seminars, events, lectures, educational programmes, and exhibitions focused on shipping and maritime policy. These activities aim to address and comprehend issues in shipping and maritime policy, providing mutual benefits to both organisations.

The collaborating entities will also exchange information on European Union matters and collaborate with other relevant scientific forums focused on shipping and integrated maritime policy. Additionally, the MoU explores the development of educational programmes in maritime sciences, covering areas such as law, management, financing, cyber security, data analysis, artificial intelligence, and engineering.

This strategic partnership between UCLan Cyprus and the Cyprus Shipping Deputy Ministry highlights their shared commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and contributing to the development of the maritime industry in Cyprus and the region. The collaborative efforts outlined in the MoU are bound to have a significant impact in the fields of shipping, technology, and education in Cyprus.
