University of Cyprus and Remedica Sign Collaboration Agreement on Research and Innovation

Partnership focuses on pharmaceutical chemistry, green chemistry, and sustainable practices.

The University of Cyprus and the pharmaceutical company Remedica have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop joint initiatives in research, education, and innovation. The collaboration emphasizes pharmaceutical chemistry and green chemistry, aiming at sustainable and environmentally friendly chemical processes.

According to UCY’s announcement, the agreement includes joint research programs that will enhance knowledge production, educational activities, and seminars featuring experts from both academia and industry, as well as internship opportunities for Chemistry students.

Executives from Remedica will participate in a series of lectures and seminars at the Department of Chemistry, highlighting career opportunities and the growing potential of the sector.

The Head of the Department of Chemistry, Associate Professor Savvas Georgiades, stressed that this partnership creates significant prospects for the Department by directly connecting students with the modern demands and practices of the pharmaceutical industry, while also upgrading both educational and research activities.

UCY Rector, Professor Tasos Christofides, emphasized that the collaboration with Remedica substantially strengthens the Department’s work, offering opportunities for cutting-edge research and for graduates to pursue careers in high-demand fields within the job market.

This agreement also reinforces UCY’s links with the expanding Cypriot pharmaceutical industry, the announcement concluded.
