Celebrating its 10th year of service, the University of Nicosia, in collaboration with the Institute For the Future (IFF), has significantly transformed its pioneering Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Digital Currencies, which was the first of its kind offered globally.

Formerly structured as a single course, it has now been reorganized into two distinct levels, offering students the flexibility to tailor their educational experience to their needs and to earn two certificates within the same timeframe.

What has changed:

1. Two Certificates in 12 Weeks: Students now have the option to embark on a 12-week journey divided into two levels—an "Introductory Level" spanning six weeks, followed by an "Advanced Level" for the next six weeks. This unique structure allows students to earn two certificates by completing both levels or to choose just one level based on their background and ambitions.

2. Brand New Curriculum: The revamped course introduces a brand-new curriculum that reflects the latest developments in digital currencies and blockchain technology. With a focus on practical application, the curriculum ensures that students gain theoretical knowledge and develop essential practical skills.

3. Practical Elements: To provide an even more substantial learning experience, the course now includes practical exercises, workshops, and research seminars. These elements are designed to bridge the gap between theory and practical application, equipping students with a significant set of relevant practical skills.

Professor George Giaglis, Executive Director of the Institute For the Future at the University of Nicosia, commented:

The MOOC is available globally for those interested in learning the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies in an organized environment with rich resources, under the guidance of experts in the field."

Taught by leading experts in the world, including Andreas Antonopoulos, Professor George Giaglis, and Antonis Polemitis, the course has already been attended by over 110,000 students. It covers both the technical aspect of decentralized digital currencies like Bitcoin and their broader economic, legal, and financial context.

Enrollments have begun. Start Date: February 5, 2024.
