Alpha Bank Leadership Concludes Four-Day Visit to Cyprus

Bank Leadership Outlines Vision for Local and International Development

Alpha Bank’s management has expressed its ambition to establish its Cypriot subsidiary as a modern banking choice for businesses and households while using it as a springboard for further international expansion. This vision was highlighted during a four-day visit to the island.

According to a statement from the bank, its leadership team met with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, Speaker of the House Annita Demetriou, key institutional figures, and executives from major business groups in the country.

Following the recent agreement in principle to acquire Astrobank’s operations, Alpha Bank’s executive team—led by Chairman of the Board Dimitris Tsitsiragos and Group CEO Vassilis Psaltis—presented the bank’s strategy for organic growth. The plan focuses on expanding business lending, mortgage loans, and new financial products and services tailored to affluent clients. Additionally, the bank reaffirmed its commitment to actively supporting the growth plans of Cypriot businesses, positioning itself as an innovative banking option in a highly concentrated market.

"The Alpha Bank Group will support every effort to enhance economic and social progress by financing investment and business projects across key sectors such as shipping, energy, tourism, industry, and construction, while also contributing to the development of small businesses," stated the Group CEO.

Psaltis emphasized that by leveraging the bank’s expertise, its skilled workforce, and its strategic partnership with UniCredit, Alpha Bank aims to create a financial bridge connecting Cypriot businesses and citizens with the heart of Europe.

During a meeting with the Cypriot President, the bank’s leadership discussed in detail its plans for further expansion in the local market, as well as the Cypriot government’s initiatives to establish the island as a strong economic hub in Southeast Europe.

Alpha Bank Cyprus CEO Miltos Michailas highlighted that the bank's decision to strengthen its presence further reflects its goal of becoming the preferred financial institution for small and large enterprises, as well as households.

"Through strategic investments and financing, with a strong emphasis on innovation and outward-looking growth, we are here to contribute to attracting investments and promoting sustainable development and progress in Cyprus," Michailas stated.
