The ordeal has come to an end for the 18 Cypriots who were trapped in Tanzania, where violent clashes between anti-government protesters and the army have created a highly volatile situation.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Theodoros Gotsis, speaking to RIK, the Cypriots — 14 of whom are students from a private secondary school — have already been airlifted to Zanzibar. From there, they will travel via Dubai to begin their journey home.
They are expected to arrive back in Cyprus tomorrow morning.
