For yet another year, Greece remains the number one holiday destination for Cypriots, with the majority opting for a carefree summer on a Greek island—particularly during August. This year, cruise holidays are also rising in popularity, with the Caribbean stealing the spotlight.

"We're especially optimistic about this summer and expect a slight increase in travel overall," said Antonis Orthodoxou, spokesperson for the Association of Cyprus Travel and Tourist Agents (ACTA), speaking to OffsiteNews.

According to Mr. Orthodoxou, Cypriots continue to favor destinations accessible via direct flights. Greece remains firmly at the top of the list, with islands like Skiathos, Rhodes, Santorini, and Crete among the top choices—primarily due to the availability of direct connections.

New direct flights offered this year by Cyprus Airways to Dubai and Barcelona have also led to increased interest in these destinations. Italy remains a strong option as well, due to the high frequency of flights.

In Central Europe, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, and Hungary are among the most preferred destinations for Cypriot travelers.

Mr. Orthodoxou clarified that ticket prices remain roughly the same as last year. However, he warned travelers that prices tend to rise as the desired travel dates approach, encouraging early bookings to secure better deals.

Beyond air travel, cruises are enjoying growing popularity this summer. “There’s a clear increase in cruise bookings, especially among families, as the costs are calculated in advance,” Mr. Orthodoxou noted.
