Τhe map of the 75 hospitals providing inpatient care services across Cyprus—classified by district—has been compiled and presented by OffsiteNews. According to data from the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO), Nicosia hosts 28 hospitals, Limassol 22, Larnaca and Paphos 12 each, and the Famagusta District 4.

It should be noted that the list of hospitals also includes Institutional Rehabilitation Services and Palliative Care Centres.

It is further clarified that hospitals contracted with the HIO offer inpatient healthcare services. Beneficiaries may access inpatient care at a hospital of their choice, provided they are referred by another healthcare provider as follows:

• personal doctor

• specialist doctor

• Accident & Emergency Department, once integrated into the GHS

• another hospital

Inpatient healthcare services cover a wide range of medical care delivered through one or more departments or units within a hospital, such as Surgery, Internal Medicine, Radiology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Diagnostic Laboratories, and Intensive Care Units. These services are provided to beneficiaries admitted to a hospital because they require at least one overnight stay and/or the use of specialised medical facilities or equipment available only in a hospital.
