Youth Voices Wanted: Cyprus Launches New Survey on Traffic and Road Use
Ekfracy invites citizens aged 18–36 to share how traffic affects their daily lives and propose real-world solutions for better mobility.
The Cyprus government has launched a new nationwide survey through Ekfracy, the official youth participation platform, inviting young citizens to share how traffic and road use affect their daily lives. The initiative is part of an ongoing push to ensure that policymaking reflects the lived realities of the country's younger population.
This latest consultation, titled "Opinions of Young People on Traffic Conditions on the Roads," is open to citizens aged 18 to 36 and seeks input on a range of mobility issues — from traffic congestion and parking shortages to road safety, infrastructure, and environmental impacts.
The survey invites participants to describe how traffic affects their routines, mental wellbeing, productivity, and social lives. Respondents can also suggest actionable solutions, such as:
-
Expanding and improving public transport
-
Enhancing road safety measures
-
Developing cycling infrastructure
-
Enforcing traffic regulations more strictly.
This traffic survey follows several successful consultations hosted on Ekfracy, where thousands of young people have already contributed to national discussions on digital transformation, mental health, education, and housing. According to Ekfracy, their collective feedback has led to:
-
More accessible and youth-oriented public services
-
Increased support for mental health care designed for younger citizens
-
A shift toward practical, skills-based learning in schools
-
Broader awareness campaigns for housing assistance programs
The results of these consultations were submitted to the relevant ministries and have played a role in shaping the government’s ongoing reforms.
The survey is now open at www.ekfracy.gov.cy.
