Discover the Top 7 Beaches in Cyprus

Spoiler Alert: Nissi Beach and Fig Tree Bay did not make our list

Lana Del Rey sings “It took 13 beaches to find one empty” but good luck finding one in Cyprus this summer. Cyprus boasts some of the most stunning beaches in the Mediterranean, each offering unique features, crystal-clear waters, and various activities. International media list Nissi Beach and Fig Tree Bay as the top two beaches in Cyprus and some of the best beaches in the world. Both hold Blue Flags and various acknowledgments. However, when we asked locals about their favorite beaches, they did not make the cut.

Here's our editor’s list of the top 7 beaches on the island, known for their beauty, amenities, and environmental standards:

1. Konnos Beach

Located on the edge of Cape Greco National Park, Konnos Beach is surrounded by stunning landscapes and pine trees. It’s a top spot for hiking, and the calm waters make it family-friendly. The beach provides sun loungers, lifeguards, and nearby eateries. It’ll be hard to find a more scenic view in Cyprus.

2. Blue Lagoon

Not to be confused with the Blue Lagoon in Protaras, this hidden gem on the Akamas Peninsula is accessible only by 4x4 or boat. It’s renowned for its clear waters and stunning natural beauty, making it a favorite for swimming and snorkeling.

3. Green Bay

Green Bay, located near Protaras, is a serene beach known for its clear, shallow waters and vibrant marine life. It's a favorite spot for snorkelers and divers, who can explore the underwater world filled with fish and interesting rock formations. The beach offers a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for those looking to relax away from the busier tourist spots, although in the high summer season, it can get equally busy as the most popular choices. Its natural beauty and tranquil environment more than make up for it.

4. Lady’s Mile Beach

Near Limassol, Lady’s Mile Beach stretches for seven kilometers, offering both pebbly and sandy areas. It's popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing, and its length ensures it never feels too crowded, even in peak season.

5. Pezounofolies Beach

A lesser-known treasure, Pezounofolies Beach is perfect for those seeking tranquility away from the more crowded spots. The beach offers pristine sands and clear waters, ideal for a peaceful day of sunbathing and swimming. Its remote location means fewer facilities, so it’s best to come prepared.

6. Pantachou Beach

Also in Ayia Napa, Pantachou Beach offers white sands and crystal-clear waters. It’s slightly quieter than Nissi Beach and Makronissos, making it a perfect spot for relaxation with all necessary amenities and Blue Flag status . While there, you can check out the picturesque Marcello bar for some cocktails.

7. Aphrodite's Baths Beach

Aphrodite's Baths Beach, located near the town of Polis on the Akamas Peninsula, is a place of stunning natural beauty and rich mythology. According to legend, this is where the goddess Aphrodite would bathe, adding a mystical allure to its crystal-clear waters and lush surroundings. The beach is relatively secluded, offering a tranquil and serene environment perfect for a quiet retreat. Visitors can also explore the nearby Baths of Aphrodite, a natural grotto surrounded by fig trees and greenery, enhancing the area's enchanting atmosphere. Although the beach itself is somewhat rocky, its unique charm and historical significance make it a must-visit spot for those seeking both relaxation and a touch of ancient mythology.
