€147,000 in Crypto Stolen from Digital Wallet in Cyprus Cybercrime Case

Approximately €147,000 in cryptocurrency was stolen through unauthorized access to a digital wallet, according to a complaint filed by a 36-year-old man with the Cybercrime Subdivision of the Cyprus Police Headquarters on Wednesday.
In an official statement, the Police reported that the man claimed an unknown individual or individuals illegally accessed his digital wallet, which held various cryptocurrencies. As a result of this unauthorized action, funds totaling around €147,000 were stolen.
The Cybercrime Investigation Branch continues to examine the case.
Following the incident, the Police reiterated the importance of strengthening digital security and urged the public to adopt enhanced measures to protect their personal and financial data when operating in online environments.
The Cyprus Police emphasized that such incidents highlight the growing risk of cybercrime involving cryptocurrencies. They advised users of digital wallets and online platforms to enable multi-factor authentication, use strong passwords, and stay alert for phishing attempts and other forms of online fraud.
