Larnaca Biennale 2027 Announces Its Theme and Opens International Call for Artists
The 5th Edition Of The Larnaca Biennale Invites Creators From Around The World To Explore Through Art The Concepts Of Displacement And Belonging.
Larnaca Biennale 2027 has announced the theme of its upcoming edition while simultaneously opening its international call for artists to submit works and proposals. The 5th edition will take place from October 13 until November 26, 2027, under the title “Displacements: Geographies in Motion.”
The exhibition is curated by Niki Papaspyrou and Marios Fournaris, who approach the concept of displacement through geological, anthropological, social, political, and historical perspectives.
The Biennale invites artists to create works inspired by issues surrounding mobility, borders, memory, the climate crisis, and the redefinition of humanity’s relationship with space and the concept of belonging.
Interested participants will be able to submit their proposals through the event’s official website from June 1, 2026, until March 31, 2027. Applications will be evaluated by an international jury, whose members will be announced in the coming months.
Alongside the main exhibition, Larnaca Biennale 2027 will host an extensive program of cultural events across the Larnaca district, including theatrical, musical, and dance performances, lectures, educational programs, and artistic workshops.
The submission form for parallel events will be available from July 1 until October 31, 2026.
As the curators note, “the world has never been a stable system,” but is continuously shaped through the movement of bodies, populations, meanings, and borders. Through this theme, the exhibition seeks to approach place not as a static point on a map, but as a living network of relationships, flows, and experiences in constant transformation.
According to the curatorial concept, “displacement” is examined not only as physical movement, but also as an experience tied to memory, trauma, ecological change, and social remapping in a world changing with increasing intensity and speed.
More information and details about the submission process are available on the official website of the event, Biennale Larnaca.
