New Children's Book "It’s Cool to Be Green" Inspires Environmental Action

Author Elena Christofides Encourages Kids to Protect the Planet Through Everyday Acts of Kindness

Elena Christofides' new book It’s Cool to be Green aims to inspire young readers to take action for the environment through simple, everyday acts.

At the heart of the story is Sophia, a conscientious girl who believes in the importance of protecting nature and takes initiatives to care for the Earth. In the story, Sophia organizes a beach clean-up trip with her class, and their efforts gain attention online, inspiring children around the world to follow her example. A simple action creates a wave of ecological awareness that crosses borders.

Elena Christofides, both the author and illustrator of the book, is an artist, animal rights activist, and art and yoga teacher. Living in Cyprus with her family and beloved animals, Elena draws inspiration from her daily life and environmental activism. Following the success of her first book, It’s Cool to Be Kind, which focused on kindness, It’s Cool to be Green aims to nurture environmental awareness in children and encourage them to make positive changes for our planet.

Through Sophia’s perspective, young readers discover that every small act can make a difference. Christofides' storytelling goes beyond merely conveying a message about protecting nature—it emphasizes the importance of inspiring and being inspired by those around us. In a world facing serious environmental challenges, Sophia’s story serves as a vital reminder that everyone, regardless of age, can contribute to the care of our planet.

With Christofides’ stunning illustrations, this book is a valuable tool for parents and educators who want to discuss environmental responsibility with children. The message is clear: it’s good to be green, and every small action counts.
