Official Update: 5.3-Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Cyprus

The tremor was strongly felt across the entire island, particularly in the districts of Paphos, Limassol, and Nicosia.

The Department of Geological Survey of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announced that on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, at 11:31 local time, a strong earthquake measuring M=5.3 on the Richter scale was recorded by the Department’s seismological network.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located near Agia Marina Kelokedaron, approximately 20 kilometres northeast of Paphos, at a focal depth of 15 kilometres. According to the Department, aftershocks are currently ongoing.

The tremor was strongly felt across the entire island, particularly in the districts of Paphos, Limassol, and Nicosia. It was also felt along parts of the eastern Mediterranean coastline.
