Oscars 2026: Triumph for “One Battle After Another”
Major Wins for Paul Thomas Anderson and Michael B. Jordan.
The 98th Academy Awards ceremony concluded at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood with “One Battle After Another” by Paul Thomas Anderson emerging as the night’s biggest winner, dominating several of the main categories.
The film took home a total of six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn, confirming its status as the year’s major frontrunner.
The night’s top award was announced on stage at the Dolby Theatre by Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor, sealing the triumph of Anderson’s film.
The ceremony was marked by intense competition between “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” by Ryan Coogler.
Although the latter had received 16 nominations, it ultimately secured four awards. Among them was the Best Actor Oscar for Michael B. Jordan, whose performance won over audiences and critics alike.
With this victory, the 39-year-old actor became one of the few Black performers in Academy history to win the Best Actor award.
The Best Actress Oscar was awarded to Jessie Buckley for her performance in the film “Hamnet,” a drama inspired by the life of William Shakespeare.
In the film, she portrays the playwright’s wife, a woman coping with the tragic loss of her child and ultimately finding catharsis through art.
One of the most emotional moments of the night came in the Best Cinematography category, where Autumn Durald Arkapaw became the first woman in Oscar history to win the award, for her work on “Sinners.”
The ceremony also featured the first Oscar ever awarded in the new category of Best Casting. The award went to Greek-born Cassandra Kulukundis for her work on “One Battle After Another.”

The Oscar for Best International Feature Film went to the Norwegian film “Sentimental Value” by Joachim Trier.
The Oscar for Best Animated Feature was awarded to “K-Pop Demon Hunters.”
The Oscar for Best Documentary Feature went to “Mr Nobody Against Putin.”
The Oscar for Best Original Score was awarded to Ludwig Göransson for “Sinners.”
The Oscar for Best Original Song went to “Golden” from the film “K-Pop Demon Hunters.”
American comedian Conan O’Brien returned for a second consecutive year as host of the ceremony, opening the night with humor and several political references.
The 98th Academy Awards ceremony featured strong competition, emotional speeches, and historic milestones, once again proving that the world’s biggest night in cinema continues to capture the attention of the global film industry.
