Oscars: 4 Nominations for Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Bugonia”

From Best Picture to the new Best Casting category.

The road to cinema’s most prestigious night officially opens with the announcement of this year’s Academy Awards nominations. The awards ceremony is set to take place on 15 March at the Dolby Theatre, with Conan O’Brien confirmed as host.

The nominees across 24 Oscar categories were revealed during a live broadcast from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles. The announcement was made by American actress Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple, The Minecraft Movie) alongside American actor Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick, Thunderbolts).

This year’s awards introduce a new competitive category for Best Casting, expanding the Academy’s recognition of behind-the-scenes contributions. In addition, the Academy has confirmed that a category honouring action and stunt sequences will debut at the 100th Oscars in 2028, for films released in 2027.
