Time Change 2025: When Clocks Go Back to Winter Time
Europe’s ongoing debate on abolishing clock changes leaves the 2025 switch in place.
As every year, in 2025 we will switch to winter time at the end of October. The change will take place in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, 2025. At 4:00 a.m., clocks must be set back by one hour to show 3:00 a.m. For those using smartphones or computers, the adjustment will happen automatically.
The return to winter time means gaining an extra hour of sleep, though afternoons will become darker earlier.
It is worth noting that since 2018, the European Commission has proposed abolishing the twice-yearly clock change, allowing each member state to decide whether to keep permanent summer or winter time. However, the decision remains pending, so for now, the current system continues.
