A Unique Art Exhibition Arrives in Paphos
Exploring the Intersection of Contemporary Art and Iconic Architecture
How familiar are we with the iconic building introduced in the 1970s as the Paphos Beach Hotel, later rebranded in the early 2000s as the Almyra Hotel? Throughout its transformation, the building evolved while maintaining its foundational principle: hospitality.
The new group exhibition by Isnotgallery Contemporary, titled "Μεταμόρφωσις | Metamorphosis," engages and converses with the spaces of the Almyra Hotel in Paphos. The exhibition aims to redefine the relationship between contemporary art and an iconic architectural landmark like the Almyra Hotel. The volumes, shadows, bright windows, and other structural elements harmoniously interact with a series of new designs, sculptures, visual interventions, and modern art samples, playfully engaging with one another.
Curator Andros Efstathiou transforms the hotel spaces, interacting with its volumes by placing artworks from exceptional artists, thus redefining the relationship between communal, non-exhibition spaces and art in a public environment. Over the past few years, Andros Efstathiou has sought to connect the personal with the collective, the private with the public, and explore how these opposing expressions can coexist or how one can absorb the other.
