Cyprus Airways Sees Growth in Passenger Traffic

The Company Completed 572 Scheduled Flights in August

In August, Cyprus Airways reported a surge in passenger numbers, transporting approximately 80,000 passengers. This figure represents a 70% increase compared to August of the previous year and a 37% rise when compared to August 2019.

The airline's press release highlighted, "Cyprus Airways witnessed exceptional performance this August, with a total of 79,804 passengers onboard, marking a 71% increase compared to the same month last year." Notably, in August, the national flag carrier completed 572 scheduled flights, achieving an 81% occupancy rate. When juxtaposed with data from August 2019, prior to the coronavirus pandemic, there's a noteworthy 37% growth in passenger volume on scheduled routes and a 27% increase in flight operations.

Christos Limnatitis, Commercial Director of Cyprus Airways, expressed satisfaction with the results. "This August stands out as the month with the highest passenger traffic in the past five years. During this month, we served almost 80,000 passengers," he said. He also hinted at a promising outlook, "Given these figures and preliminary data for September, we anticipate transporting over half a million passengers by year-end."

Paul Sies, the company's CEO, elaborated on the airline's expansion throughout the year. "We have extended our network to 19 destinations, increased our weekly flight frequencies to 60, doubled our fleet size, and expanded our workforce. We remain committed to our promise of continuous growth and leveraging the momentum we built last year. Our commitment to the island's tourism industry is stronger than ever."

The press release also emphasized Cyprus Airways' growing reputation as a top choice for travelers. The airline boasts a broad array of destinations with competitive fares and an impressive new product – the Business Class. The recent addition of the A220 aircraft to the company's fleet has also been well-received by passengers.
