Education Creativity Center and Hope for Children to Host Information Seminar and Roundtable Discussion: “Balancing the Use of Technology at Home”
In today's digital age, striking the right balance between technology and real-world experiences is paramount for the healthy development of our children. The pervasive presence of technology in our lives presents both opportunities and challenges. While technology can enrich educational experiences, stimulate creativity, and connect children with a world of information and ideas, it also poses the risk of isolating them from face-to-face interactions, impeding physical activity, and potentially exposing them to age-inappropriate content.
The seminar “Balancing the Use of Technology at Home” organised by the Education Creativity Center (ECC), in collaboration with the Humanitarian Organization "Hope for Children" CRC Policy Center, aims to provide valuable insights into the benefits of healthy technology exposure within the family, while also addressing the potential risks associated with excessive screen time. The event includes a dynamic roundtable discussion, bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds, all driven by the common goal of fostering a balanced integration of technology into our children's lives. Recognizing the importance of this balance, the seminar will delve into practical strategies for parents and caregivers to navigate these complexities effectively, ensuring that children can harness the benefits of technology while maintaining a strong connection to the physical and social aspects of their lives.
“As technology is an integral part of our lives, it is essential that we find the right balance between screen time and real-world experiences for our children”, underlines Pantelis Charalambous, Director of the ECC adding: “ At ECC, we believe that harnessing the potential of technology while safeguarding the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our young ones is a shared responsibility, therefore empowering parents and caretakers is part of our mission here at the Centre”.
The seminar will be delivered in English, on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 18:00 to 20:00 at the ECC premises located at Prodromou Avenue, 105z, Shop 2, Strovolos 2063. The participation fee for the seminar is €30. To ensure maximum and direct engagement of participants, the seminar is limited to 40 seats.
