Cyprus-Based Medochemie Embarks on a Strategic Alliance with AstraZeneca

Medochemie has announced a major strategic collaboration, underscoring its growing influence in the global pharmaceutical landscape. This new partnership involves transferring the advanced drug production and packaging processes of the British-Swedish pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca to Medochemie Far East in Vietnam, as confirmed by a certification issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology.

Nitin Kapoor, President and General Manager of AstraZeneca Vietnam, expressed commitment to this collaborative effort, emphasizing its aim to bolster the development of the domestic pharmaceutical sector in Vietnam. This initiative, according to Kapoor, is geared towards ensuring easy access for patients to high-quality medicines produced locally.

Grigoris Haritonas, Director of Medochemie Far East, shared his satisfaction with this pivotal alliance with AstraZeneca. He described it as a significant stride in their joint efforts to support the scientific and technological advancement in Vietnam's pharmaceutical sector.

Medochemie Far East operates five high-tech manufacturing facilities, covering a total area of 63,500 square meters and comprising nine distinct production lines specializing in technology transfer. The high-quality medicines produced through this technology transfer are not only exported to Europe and various countries worldwide but are also available in the Vietnamese market.

Established in 1976

Medochemie, established in 1976 in Cyprus by Dr. Andreas Pittas, has dynamically expanded from its European base to promising markets worldwide, including the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The company, beyond its 21 main offices, has developed an extensive network of reliable commercial representatives and partners, enabling its operations in 107 countries globally.

Today, Medochemie Ltd boasts 13 state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, including nine in Cyprus, one in the Netherlands, and three in Vietnam. The company significantly contributes to Cyprus's economy, responsible for 28% of the country’s total exports.
