The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works has announced that a new electric vehicle grant scheme will be unveiled in December 2023. This initiative will offer subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles and low CO2 emission vehicles (up to 50 g/km). Additionally, it includes incentives for scrapping old, polluting vehicles.

This upcoming scheme builds on the success of two previous initiatives, which have made a significant impact. The Ministry emphasizes that these electric vehicle grant schemes are vital in meeting Cyprus' goal to reduce transportation pollutants. This effort aligns with the commitments outlined in the National Energy and Climate Plan 2021-2030 of the Republic.

Funding for the grant schemes comes from the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Fund.
