Archangelos Gymnasium's 'Angels' Win Gold and Silver in Girls Fire Fighting Event
The robotics team "Angels" from Archangelos Gymnasium in Lakatamia achieved remarkable success by winning both gold and silver medals in the "Girls Fire Fighting" event. This accomplishment was at the international robotics competition, Robotex International, held in Tallinn, Estonia, on November 17 and 18, 2023.
According to an announcement by Archangelos Gymnasium, relayed by the Ministry of Education, the team comprises students Nausica Vrondou, Eleana Karras, Flora Karras, and Silia Ktori. "This achievement is particularly significant as it marks the first time a public school from Cyprus has secured first and second place in the same event at an International Robotics Competition," the statement noted.
The team also performed exceptionally well in the "Enhanced Line Follow" event, securing the 6th and 7th positions. Other team members include Vasilis Zannettou, Konstantinos Theodorou, and Antonios Mettis.
Teachers Miltos Karras and Maria Gioutani, who worked voluntarily with their students outside of school hours throughout the previous academic year, led the team's preparation.
The team received support from the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation, Hellas Direct, the Cyprus Computer Society, and the management of Archangelos Gymnasium.
